Geek Girls Always Prevail

Mia Connors finally has this #adulting thing under control. She's set to launch a massive project at work, her social calendar is filling up and, if you can believe it, she might finally get the guy. But when one of her grandparents' close friends is discovered floating in the lake—D-E-A-D—all she's after is justice. And there's only one person who can make that happen.

Deputy US Marshal Jake Archer is working undercover when he gets the call about a murder in Horseshoe Falls. The vic may have been close with Mia's family, but it doesn't take long for Jake to discover that he had far more enemies than friends.

Horseshoe Falls is abuzz with news of the murder, and Mia's determined to get to the bottom of things, despite Jake's direct order to stand back. Jake didn't open his heart to the possibility of a future with someone just to let her get herself killed. Now they have to contain the panic within Horseshoe Falls, apprehend the fugitive and figure out how to salvage their relationship—before Mia finds herself in the crosshairs.

The Geek Girls Mysteries comes to a close with A Geek Girl's Guide to Justice. Julie Anne Lindsey delivers a mystery with closure written on every page.

Mia's twin sister is expecting, her mom is writing a book about their quirky family, and Mia rescued a dead man from a lake in Horseshoe Falls. This story is packed full of drama and another investigation for Mia to meddle in. I would have loved for their romance to be more intense. I couldn't believe they were both awkward throughout the entire series. Thankfully, I picked up this series for the amateur sleuthing, not the romance.

This story neatly wraps up the lives of the characters leaving just enough room an average mystery to unfold. It wasn't as explosive as I would have liked for the end of a series, but it kept me hooked to the end. I definitely recommend this cozy mystery series to gamers and techies!

Geek Girls Have Heart

It's been three months since Jake Archer rolled into town, accused Mia Connors of murder and stole her heart. She hasn't heard from him since. So when a man collapses at the fall Renaissance Faire, she's surprised to see the US marshal arrive on scene. And shocked when he points the finger at her—again. Mia would sooner be able to resurrect the poor fellow than poison him.

Jake Archer's career has been rising fast, but it's about to come to a crashing halt. The Ren-Faire victim was in protective custody—Jake's custody—and they were painfully close to nabbing a major crime boss. If Jake doesn't solve the murder soon, he'll be fetching donuts instead of protecting his nation. A difficult enough task without the alluring Mia Connors in the way.

Working with Jake to catch the killer might push Mia into crazy-cat-lady territory. But with a murderer on the loose—and Mia's reputation on the line—they'll have to work fast to find the killer before the killer finds them.

Julie Anne Lindsey returns with her geeky sleuth, Mia Connors, in A Geek Girl's Guide to Arsenic. The Renaissance Faire is in full swing but comes to a temporary halt when a man dies suddenly. The murder weapon, poison. As the last person to speak with the victim after giving him a drink of wassail and a sample of Guinivere's Golden Beauty, Mia is once again fingered as a suspect. Only this time her grandmother's company also takes a hit.

In order to keep business coming in and save the company's reputation, Mia decides to situate herself into the investigation. Newly appointed US Marshal Jake Archer returns to town to solve the mystery of who killed the man in his custody and to keep Mia out of the line of fire. As the killer remains elusive Mia and Jake find themselves stepping into the new territory of romance. The connection between them is begging to be explored, but we only get a little taste in this installment.

This is a wonderful follow-up to A Geek Girl's Guide to Murder. Lindsey reminds us that Mia is a normal human affected by traumatic experiences. She struggles to deal with her previous experience with a murderer, but family comes first. She's determined to clear their name and bring her world back to some semblance of normal. Still no better at the art of reading social cues, Mia is unclear where she stands with Jake. Of course, we readers know where this is headed but the happily ever after is still way off.

Featuring quirky characters and die-hard cosplayers A Geek Girl's Guide to Arsenic is perfect for fans of Cathy Yardley's Fandom Hearts series!

With the flair of Joelle Charbonneau and the fandom geekiness of Cathy Yardley, Geek Girls Guide to Murder proves to be a well-rounded read. Julie Anne Lindsey touches the heart of the girl who owns her quirks and manages to save the day despite her social anxiety. If that doesn't kick butt, what does?

This hilarious and modern cozy mystery series is the perfect read for a chilly fall weekend. Though you might be able to finger the culprit early on, like immediately, the fun is in the hoops Mia jumps through to find answers. Someone has tampered with the Horseshoe Falls email system and killed Mia's best friend, Baxter. The new head of security, Jake Archer, believes she's part of some elaborate illegal scheme and his brother Dan, the homicide detective, focuses his sights on her. Mia is determined to find the real person responsible for Baxter's death while tracking down her other bestie, Nate. As the net of suspicion is cast over the clubhouse employees the killer gets feisty and threatens Mia.

A Geek Girl's Guide to Murder follows this sassy gamer girl as she balances life as the face of her grandmother's natural skincare company, head of IT, and full-time geek. Thankfully she has the support of her overprotective family to keep pushing forward. I loved following Mia through this mystery because every chapter unveils a part of her personality and it pulled me in further. She's not at all what she first seems but throughout the story's entirety, she proves her strength. The Geek Girl Mysteries continue in the next Geek Girl's Guide to Arsenic.

Another Unconventional Wedding, K.M. Jackson Style

Extravagant pay-your-own-way destination weddings. Money-dripping ice swans. And reception DJs who keep the “Chicken Dance” on repeat. Some brides are simply not having it. They’ll rebel against white lace—and won’t let “special day” crazy stop real love.

Leila Darling is past done with the supermodel thing, especially the mega-parties and high-profile flings that have done nothing but leave her alone and jaded. She’s got the talent to be a serious actress, but the industry sees her as a high-maintenance, impulsive party girl with a reputation for leaving men in the dust—especially TV producer Carter Bain.

Carter’s had his eye on Leila for years, so when a bet gives him a chance to get close to her, he accepts. With the goal of getting Leila the image makeover she needs and Carter the star he desires, the game is on. Get married and stay married for six months. If Leila lasts, she gets her pick of his A-list roles. If Carter wins, she’ll take the hot sidekick part he’s offered.

But as their “I do” turns up all kinds of heat, Leila and Carter find they have more in common than they ever imagined. Are these two prepared to put business aside and surrender the ultimate prize, their hearts?

K.M. Jackson continues her Unconventional Brides romance series with another unconventional wedding!

Darling model and aspiring actress, Leila Darling, is looking forward to furthering her career, but the press is only willing to focus on her string of exes and her party lifestyle. Carter Bain seeks her out in the hopes of finding the star of one of his new shows, but Leila wants a more high profile role than what he's offering. That is until Leila's agent initiates a bet to have the two marry in order to clean up Leila's reputation. Their whirlwind marriage takes their family and friends by surprise, but to Leila and Carter, the end justifies the means.

The Betting Vow takes every girl's dream of marrying 'the one' and turns it into a fun rom-com that keeps readers flipping the pages. The characters are realistic even in a situation one could hardly ever imagine themselves in. I really enjoyed the fast pace of the story. K. M. Jackson gets to the point while also developing multi-dimensional characters with an interesting story to tell. Leila and Carter are both hard working individuals ready for the next chapter in their lives. Readers will see the doubts and insecurities that plague the unexpecting groom and bride in their journey to forever. It's sickeningly sweet with a comedic edge!
