With the flair of Joelle Charbonneau and the fandom geekiness of Cathy Yardley, Geek Girls Guide to Murder proves to be a well-rounded read. Julie Anne Lindsey touches the heart of the girl who owns her quirks and manages to save the day despite her social anxiety. If that doesn't kick butt, what does?

This hilarious and modern cozy mystery series is the perfect read for a chilly fall weekend. Though you might be able to finger the culprit early on, like immediately, the fun is in the hoops Mia jumps through to find answers. Someone has tampered with the Horseshoe Falls email system and killed Mia's best friend, Baxter. The new head of security, Jake Archer, believes she's part of some elaborate illegal scheme and his brother Dan, the homicide detective, focuses his sights on her. Mia is determined to find the real person responsible for Baxter's death while tracking down her other bestie, Nate. As the net of suspicion is cast over the clubhouse employees the killer gets feisty and threatens Mia.

A Geek Girl's Guide to Murder follows this sassy gamer girl as she balances life as the face of her grandmother's natural skincare company, head of IT, and full-time geek. Thankfully she has the support of her overprotective family to keep pushing forward. I loved following Mia through this mystery because every chapter unveils a part of her personality and it pulled me in further. She's not at all what she first seems but throughout the story's entirety, she proves her strength. The Geek Girl Mysteries continue in the next Geek Girl's Guide to Arsenic.
