Tilly Brock has learned—the hard way—how to take care of herself. Once a pillar of Charleston society, her family lost everything in the wake of a shocking scandal. And then Tilly lost the only boy she ever loved.

Keaton Benedict is Charleston’s most notorious bachelor. But in spite of all his advantages—the money, the women, the family name—he longs for more: the heart of the young woman he still can’t forget.

When Keaton re-enters Tilly’s life, after all these years, she is torn between feelings of doubt and desire. Can they put the past behind them and learn to love again? Tilly is willing to try. But Keaton is afraid that a vengeful enemy is watching—and waiting to destroy them. Can the rekindled flame of their love defeat the deadliest rival and light their way forward in the darkest night?

Tara Thomas opens the Sons of Broad series with an astounding bang! Darkest Night takes the shape of a romantic thriller as two childhood friends reconnect amid death and danger. Keaton Benedict walks into Tilly Brock's life, years after her father was accused of stealing from the Benedict family business. Things fall back into place as their connection proves to be as strong as ever.

Darkest Night is a fast paced read that has as many surprise twists as it has interesting characters. Told from multiple perspectives with distinct voices, the story gives readers a bird's eye view of the plot. When Tilly's co-workers start showing up dead, and she and Keaton receive threats, the story takes a dark, dangerous turn. As it progresses, a man known as The Gentleman is shown to be the mastermind behind most of the events around the Benedict family. This story gives you just enough information to suspect and not enough to give the full plot away. Throughout the entire story, the attacks seem random and increasingly targeted toward Keaton and his brothers, but it becomes obvious that a large unknown force is looking to take them out.

Though we don't get all the answers raised in Darkest Night, the rest of the Sons of Broad series will no doubt provide them. I can honestly say that not knowing everything makes me even more eager to jump into the next book! It's not the same as being left on a cliff hanger, because a lot of the plot is resolved and just enough left open for further exploration. Romantic suspense fans of Katee Robert and B.J. Daniels will love taking on this new series!
