Humorous Paranormal Romance: Memoirs of a Dragon Hunter (Review)

Dragon Hunter Wanted: Sword supplied. No experience necessary.

One moment, I was a normal (if somewhat germaphobic) math teacher getting ready for summer vacation. Then my sister died in a pile of black ash, leaving me with a sword... and her destiny as dragon hunter. It turns out there's a whole other world out there filled with demons, dragons, and spirits. Now my job is to protect mortals - and I haven't got a clue what I'm doing.

Then there's tattooed hotness Ian Iskander. Part dragon hunter and part demon, Ian's got some seriously creepy business associates and keeps trying to steal my sword. So why do we keep getting lost in hungry, crazy-hot kisses? Ian is the only person who can help me figure out who - and what - I am. But trusting a half-demon is dangerous... because when you play with dragon fire, someone always gets burned.

Memoirs of a Dragon Hunter is the hilarious opening to Katie MacAlister's brand new paranormal romance series. Veronica is an outrageously cute and quirky character who becomes a dragon hunter by chance.

The death of her younger half-sister throws her unprepared into a world full of monsters and organizations working against each other for more power. Her new neighbor, Ian, tutors her on the finer points of being a dragon hunter while she tries to decipher Helen's mission for her. Even though her life has just been turned upside down, and any kind of change or disorder normally disagrees with her, Veronica toughens up and embraces the chance to fight evil. I loved how kick butt she wanted to be even before she knew what was truly at stake. The story is as action packed as it is comedic, though I was a little disappointed that there's no dragon shifting involved. Dragon hunters in this world have dual natures, part demon and part dragon, and hunt demons. They have a very unique situation that was interesting to learn about. I loved that the world MacAlister created is fresh and full of supernatural groups with crazy names and fanatic members.

Memoirs of a Dragon Hunter is probably the funniest paranormal romance I've ever read. It's not just the quirky characters, but the style of writing that leads readers into the most insane conversations and unexpected events. I'd say it's the perfect balance of fun, romantic, and action-packed! I'd highly recommend diving in for an engaging read!
